Whether your firm has just recently created an Instagram account or you’ve been on it for ages, you may find that you’ve never used your firm’s Instagram Stories. Most brands and “influencers” post constantly on their stories. Though this may not be feasible for your firm, posting on your story may be something to consider.
What is an Instagram Story?
An Instagram Story is a feature on the Instagram app that allows those with an account to post images or videos for only 24 hours, starting when the image or video is first posted. Instead of appearing with the regular Instagram posts, it appears by clicking on the account’s user image in the top left corner. Stories can be edited and filtered within the Instagram App. If the account is public, then anyone can access the Story, whereas private accounts’ stories can only be seen by their followers.
Why Use Instagram Stories?
There are many different reasons to utilize Instagram Stories. Here are just a few:
Show Authenticity: Instagram Stories are meant to be spontaneous. They don’t have to be as methodical as the posts you typically post (but they still need to be just as professional!). Through Stories, you can add some personality and authenticity to your firm’s Instagram. Stories tend to be more laidback, so you can use your firm’s Stories to show what your firm is really like, helping it seem more approachable and relatable.
Increase Your Visibility: Instagram often changes its algorithm on how posts appear in someone’s feed. If one of your followers doesn’t check your profile frequently, your firm’s posts may fall lower on their feed list. Fortunately, Stories are all displayed across the top of the home feed. You can scroll across the Stories, making it easier to find yours.
Engage Your Firm’s Followers: One of the fun features of Instagram Stories is that you can create different polls for your followers to fill out. Your followers can click on two different options to vote. Say your firm had a pumpkin carving competition this Halloween. You can showcase the pumpkins and have your followers vote on their favorite. Again, this will show some personality and authenticity for your firm! You can also utilize the “Question” feature of the Stories. Followers can submit a question for you to then answer within your Instagram Stories. This can help you get to know the needs of your audience.
What Should My Firm Post On Its Story?
The options are limitless for what you can post! Just make sure it remains professional and on brand with your firm. If you firm is running an event within the community, post about it in your Story to help promote it! You can then even post while the event is happening. Similarly, if your firm is volunteering, posting some pictures or videos from the event can help humanize your firm.
You can add a link in a Story to a new blog post on your firm’s site. You’ll reach a larger audience and likely increase the number of people who read your blog. If you’re unsure what to write about on your blog, ask your followers what they’d like to know more about. Maybe you’ll find many do not understand the reconsideration process for disability benefits. You’ll then be able to write a blog you know will be beneficial for your audience.
